The approach to musical theatre dance at Twirl is a reflection of the professional experience of owner, Sam Sinns (learn more about Sam’s professional experience here). Twirl musical theatre dance classes focus on technique, body awareness, and dance styles that are practical to working in musical theatre (Broadway, Disney, Cruise Ships, etc…).
In order for students to progress in their technique, it is important that dance is studied as a separate discipline from singing and pure acting. As dance is separate from singing in musical theatre auditions, singing is not incorporated into Twirl’s musical theatre dance classes. Musical theatre dance classes for students age 5-7 will work on acting and storytelling through movement as well as dance. For students age 8+ the main focus is on sharpening dance skills in order that students can land dance roles in school musicals, area theatre productions, and beyond.
Since opening in 2016, Twirl has attracted middle and high school musical theatre performers who are new to dance and want to become more of a triple threat.

Most college musical theatre programs require prescreen audition videos as part of the application process for incoming freshmen. The vast majority of these programs require some sort of dance as part of the prescreen video.
Students who have worked with Twirl owner Sam Sinns on their prescreen audition videos have been granted auditions for musical theatre programs at:
