The Team Twirl performance group is designed for students who want to get a little more serious about their dance training. It is open to any students who meet the minimum class requirements plus a Team Twirl class. Team Twirl classes will focus on dance technique plus serve as rehearsal time for upcoming performances. Note that Team Twirl students must attend 70% of their required Team Twirl classes. This attendance requirement will be calculated/assessed during the following three time periods: September-December, January-March, and April-June.
The weekly class requirements are as follows:
Team Twirl I and II (ages 5-7)
Team Twirl II and III (ages 8+)
*Team Twirl classes will focus on dance technique and will also serve as rehearsal time for performances.
In addition to Twirl’s year end show, Team Twirl will participate in 5-6 performances a year. These will include community events, nursing homes, and a springtime performance at Hershey Park. In June 2020, Team Twirl will participate in the Disney Performing Arts program and perform at WALT DISNEY WORLD, Twirl owner Sam Sinns’ old stomping grounds!*
*All Team Twirl dancers traveling to Walt Disney World will participate in a Disney dance workshop. However, due to Disney Performing Arts age restrictions, the only levels of Team Twirl participating in the Disney performance will be Team Twirl II (ages 6-7), Team Twirl III (ages 8-10) and Team Twirl IV (ages 11+). Team Twirl I (ages 5-6) will participate in the Disney dance workshop only. Traveling to Walt Disney World is optional for Team Twirl dancers.
At Twirl, we believe that dance is a gift to be used to serve others. Whether dancing at a nursing home or in a Broadway show, the dancer’s main obligation is to share their talents as a gift to the audience. This is at the heart of Team Twirl. Serving others by bringing joy through the art of dance is what it’s all about. No competitions. No trophies. No awards. Just a simple focus on giving to the community.
